Standing Atop the U.S. Capitol Dome

I never even knew it was possible to climb the hundreds of steps to the top of the U.S. Capitol dome. Today, I did it. The above shot was taken at the top level, right below Constantino Brumidi’s painting of “The Apotheosis of Washington.” Moments later, we climbed even higher to get a view of Washington from on top of the dome.
