Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell spent a few minutes with bloggers after his CPAC speech talking about the Republican successes — yes, that‚Äôs correct — so far in the 100th Congress.
McConnell played up the fact that Democrats have been able to achieve little in the way of passing legislation, largely because Senate Republicans have united to stop the bad policies they have tried to advance. As a result, President Bush has been able to avoid confrontation with Democrats.
As I‚Äôve written about in the past, I‚Äôve been very impressed with McConnell‚Äôs performance. Just two months into his tenure as leader, he‚Äôs managed to keep the GOP united — something his predecessor, Bill Frist, struggled to do when Republicans had the majority.
