Conservative blogger and journalist with a passion for politics, sports and family
My good friend Andrew Breitbart is in the news today for his latest creation: Breitbart.tv, the soon-to-launch website that will offer links to video, much like Breitbart.com does with news articles. The new website is the subject of Rob Owen’s column in today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The site will be run out of Pittsburgh, where former WTAE news anchor Scott Baker and former ThePittsburghChannel.com news editor Liz Stephans will work with the Los Angeles-based Breitbart to oversee the operation. It will function as an aggregator with video from ABC News, the Associated Press, Fox News, Reuters and TMZ.com. Here’s a snippet from Owen’s article:
Breitbart said his goal for .tv is to make “an all-encompassing breaking-news video” site, and he’s confident Baker and Stephans are the right people for the job.
“I’ve never met two people who have the same level of 24/7 passion about breaking news,” he said. “It’s an addiction.”
The goal is for Breitbart.tv to be a 24-hour site, with Baker, Stephans and Breitbart, who lives in Los Angeles, sharing posting duties.
Given the tremendous success Breitbart has enjoyed — first with the Drudge Report, later at the Huffington Post and most recently with his own Breitbart.com — there’s little doubt Breitbart.tv will become an instant hit. After all, video is becoming increasingly in demand on the web, even prompting C-SPAN to recently ease its restrictions on usage of its content.
Breitbart.tv is expected to launch before the end of the month.
