Fixing the Earmark Problem Is as Easy as S. Res. 123
Senate Democrats have proved once again they’re not serious about fixing the earmark problem in Congress. This video shows Sen. Jim DeMint (R.-S.C.) on the floor asking for the Senate to consider S. Res. 123 — a rule change that would add greater transparency to the process. Sen. Robert Menendez (D.-N.J.) blocked DeMint’s motion, meaning the Senate will proceed with business as usual on earmarks. The irony is that DeMint’s amendment already passed in another form, 98-0, earlier this year. Unfortunately, it was never enacted.
