Conservative blogger and journalist with a passion for politics, sports and family
The 2008 presidential campaign is bringing bloggers closer to candidates than ever before. One has to look no further than John McCain’s courting bloggers on his campaign bus or Rudy Giuliani’s inviting a blogger along on his trek through Iowa.
But aside from national bloggers, who quickly swing in and out of town, there is a growing network of state-based bloggers devoted to covering the candidates’ every move. I want to take a moment to highlight a few bloggers based in New Hampshire, home to the nation’s first primary next January.
• GraniteGrok: This blog is run by conservatives, and as you can imagine, has a lot of coverage of Republican candidates. I first came to know about bloggers Skip and Doug when GraniteGrok took part in a conference call with John McCain last week. This morning, the blog features video of Giuliani at a house party in Hampton Falls.
• GreenMountainPolitics1: This blog is run by a blogger named Clacker with the sole purpose of covering the presidential primary on both sides of the aisle. He admits to having favorites: McCain, Mike Huckabee, Chris Dodd and John Edwards, but offers commentary on everyone. Recent coverage includes a post about Mitt Romney at a town-hall meeting in Derry, and another about Edwards at the University of New Hampshire.
• New Hampshire Presidential Watch: This site tracks all presidential candidates as they plead their case to New Hampshire voters. Blogger Cosmo posts the daily schedule of candidate visits to the state and offers some excellent photography of them on the trail. In recent days, Cosmo was also at the Romney event and was following Edwards, but also has a post about Barack Obama in Portsmouth.
