Democrats Put Pork Above Principle

Vice President Cheney and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ratcheted up the debate over the Iraq supplemental during back-to-back press briefings on Capitol Hill this afternoon. Meanwhile, President Bush appealed to congressional Democrats to quit playing politics with the troop funding.

Here’s the latest video offering from the Heritage Foundation. Former Rep. Ernest Istook slams the Democrats for larding up the bill with pork-barrel spending. The money for peanut storage and spinach farmers may be gone, but there’s still $3.5 billion in agricultural assistance.
