Keeping the Majority Accountable

The two men behind the just-launched Majority Accountability Project want to shake up Capitol Hill. Michael Brady and Michael Giuliani, two longtime congressional staffers, have decided Washington’s entrenched journalists aren’t doing a good enough job reporting the facts about Democrats in Congress. They think they can do better.

Judging from their fast start, I’d say this is a promising venture. Check out their scoops on freshmen Democrats’ embrace of an embattled lobbyist, Democrats’ financial support for defeated candidate Christine Jennings, and the National Democratic Club’s exception to D.C.’s smoking ban.

David All, who taught congressional Republicans how to blog while serving as an aide to Rep. Jack Kingston, is now helping Brady and Giuliani turn their website into the GOP’s best online endeavor in a long time.

Brady and Giuliani spoke at today’s Conservative Bloggers’ Briefing, explaining to 30-some right-leaning bloggers why they think investigative reporting is sorely missing on Capitol Hill and what they plan to do about it. For starters, they’re going to apply for press credentials to cover the Capitol — something that is sure to spark a fight with the elitist journalists who oversee the congressional press galleries.

The project is designed to emulate what liberals have done successfully on the Internet — using messaging techniques to tarnish Republicans for wrongdoing, much of which they rightly deserved. This information was later used to bolster stories in the mainstream media about GOP corruption, tarnishing the brand and leading to a slaughter on Election Day. Brady and Giuliani have great potential to succeed as long as they stick to the facts and report the truth.

UPDATE — 10:59 p.m.: I’ve added photos from today’s meeting to Flickr. Also, David All posts video on YouTube of an interview with Brady and Giuliani.

UPDATE — April 25, 5:01 p.m.: David All has a round-up of early reviews, including one for yours truly. Also, Jack Yoest e-mailed me his thoughts on the new project.

Just saw two helicopters flying over Thurmont, MD. I wonder if the Obamas are visiting Camp David?
