Frustrated With GOP, Conservative Leaves U.S. for Russia
My former boss at Human Events, Stephen O’Connor, read David All’s post this morning about the state of the Republican Party’s online efforts and sent me the following note. Steve was a great boss who faced a difficult situation at Eagle Publishing. He made tremendous strides while there, most notably the acquisition of RedState.
Mr. All’s summation of the current state of the adrift party and strategy going forward is accurate and has been obvious to a lonesome minority of the young guns on the Hill and elsewhere for quite some time. Sadly I don’t think “the leadership” will pull its head of its proverbial ass for another nine years at the end of the next Hillary administration.
As the former publisher of Human Events and the co-founder of the Conservative Bloggers Briefing, I can tell you as a close witness to the machinations of the so-called Republican Party over the last few years, it was an easy decision for me to relocate my family to Moscow, Russia, for a new career in commercial real estate development — as opposed to remaining in the D.C. trenches while the Gallipoli-like “leadership” (and their Country Club Republican thinking, i.e., missing the incredible opportunity that Saul Anuzis brings to the table) further destroys the 30-year hard fought successes of Ronald Reagan’s Revolution.
Shame, Shame, Shame.
While I’m sorry to see a friend leave Washington, I’m happy that Steve, his wife and three children are embarking on a new journey in life. For those of you who met Steve and would like to keep in touch with him, he asked me to share his e-mail address: oconstephen@gmail.com. Best wishes and good luck in Moscow, my friend.

I don’t blame him one bit. The Republican Appropriations mafia did virtually nothing post-2003 other than arbitrage voter activism for pork and profit.
I’m sure Jerry Lewis and his mafiosi will have no problem conjuring up data that will show Republican success in 2008. Just like in 2006. Do you think they will give everyone a promotion again, after a second defeat?
I won’t be wasting my time. Bush is an honorable man, fighting for what is right, and worth supporting. There are great guys in Congress (Mike Pence, Marsha Blackburn), but the minority leadership is a bunch of scumbags.
