Not Buying Into the Fred Thompson Hype?
A week ago my friend Matt Lewis wrote on Townhall’s blog that he wasn’t “buying into the Fred Thompson hype.” Lewis analyzed Thompson’s style, comparing him to Donald Rumsfeld. “[W]hile everyone else is talking about what a stud he is, I just don’t see it,” Lewis wrote.
Lewis, who is Townhall’s director of operations, stirred up quite a debate, and got the attention of RedState contributors when he jokingly referred to us as FRedState. It seemed fair, after all, since Thompson did make his blogging debut on RedState by contributing three posts, including one about his cancer that was linked by the Drudge Report.
But something has happened in the past week at Lewis’ employer. Over the course of the past eight days, Townhall has run a total of five Thompson columns. Most of Thompson’s work has appeared after Lewis’ critical comments.
All of this has left me wondering if Lewis and Townhall have bought into the hype yet?
