Conservative blogger and journalist with a passion for politics, sports and family
Today at the Heritage Foundation we hosted Rep. Eric Cantor, chief deputy whip of House Republicans. Cantor spoke to conservative bloggers about his latest project, the Solutions Factory — an online destination for citizens to offer common-sense solutions for Congress.
Cantor’s web guru Matt Lira actually launched the Solutions Factory at today’s meeting and proceeded to show bloggers how it worked. (Cantor’s appearance drew quite a crowd; we had more than 40 people participate today.)
“This is a tremendous opportunity to speak to the American people about problems facing America,” Cantor told us. “This has the potential to change the way American debates issues.”
Cantor said the solutions must follow three principles:
1) They must be something positive
2) They cannot expand the reach of government
3) They must be fiscally responsible
The project will be evolutionary, Cantor said, meaning that he’s willing to make upgrades. One suggestion was to add a Digg-like system to distinguish good ideas from bad ones. Since it’s launch around noon today, it seems the Solutions Factory is already generating many ideas.
