The Heritage Foundation’s James Jay Caranfano is no fan of the immigration deal. In a new paper out this afternoon, he calls it “1986 Redux.” Carafano says the deal reached by the White House and Sen. Teddy Kennedy repeats the same mistakes of the 1986 amnesty deal.
Meanwhile, my colleague James Sherk criticizes a provision in the bill that would require employ¬≠ers to pay temporary guest workers the “prevailing competitive wage.” Sherk says it would “reduce labor market flex¬≠ibility, and would open the door to costly litigation.”
And finally, Heritage alumnae Kate O’Beirne weighs in on the battle between Robert Rector and the Wall Street Journal.
