FredHeads

Posted by: Rob Bluey In: Politics

My friend Ragnar Danneskjold of the Jawa Report is now doubling as online and field coordinator for FredHeads USA, a website that he says will organize and train volunteers for Fred Thompson to be effective field operatives.

The FredHeads originally came together within the now famous online forum site DraftFredThompson.com. They’re now moving into the real “bricks and mortar” political world. A lot of the FredHeads are still taking political “baby steps,” but they’re learning fast.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve been working actively with the FredHeads to help them further organize their online presence and gain the online and real-world campaign skills necessary to be effective campaign operatives.

I see massive potential for this group, and I’m a huge advocate of what they’re doing. We’re working to spread the word that the FredHeads are out here and that they’re re-writing the playbook on GOP grassroots political activity. I’m telling you folks: this is exciting stuff.

This type of activity on behalf of Thompson is what’s lacking among the rest of the Republican field. With Thompson’s campaign nabbing blogger Jon Henke and a strong group of other online operatives, I suspect the combination of hired hands and grassroots activists will be hard for any other candidate to match.

Chk’d out the Fredhead site a bit. You know I’d like so much to jump on board but I’m simply not ready. The “trust thing” just isn’t there-yet. I have so much mistrust towards the GOP Hierarchy, of whom Fred has been part of in the past. I still see the posibility that Fred could be their Decoy of sorts. A safety valve. I can see a possible scenerio. Seeing that it may not be possible to get one of the “Big 3″ (Bush Extensions) nominated they sneak a “Fred” in there and have him say some things that will appear to titillate the Sovereign Border/National Identity wing of the GOP. But then after getting elected, back to biz as usual. I’m sticking w/Duncan Hunter for now even though his campaign seems bog’d down a bit. Darvin Dowdy

[...] I didn’t stay up to watch last night, but it looks like Fred Thompson did fairly well from this compilation put together by Hot Air. (He did talk about FredHeads, which should be a nice boost for the new site.) [...]
