My colleagues Bill Beach and Shanea Watkins have put together an outstanding interactive map that tells you the price of gasoline in your state in 2016 if the Senate energy bill is enacted. When I scrolled over Virginia to see what the price would be 11 years from now, I was alarmed to see it projected at $6.19 per gallon. That’s more than double the $2.99 I paid on Sunday.
The map alone should scare enough senators into voting against the bill, but if you remain unconvinced, Beach and Watkins have put together this report detailing even more reasons why the bill will raise gas prices. It’s a good follow-up to Ben Lieberman’s paper and video on why the bill is bad for consumers.
