A Contract for Conservatives

Posted by: Rob Bluey In: Conservatism

Jim Geraghty has provoked quite a bit of discussion today at On Tap about a future Contract With America. He lays out 10 principles ranging from security and spending to education and energy. His hope is that these “proposals could get 90 percent of conservatives (and a big chunk of the public) to back nine of them.” Could you support them?

Its lame. To begin with “gun training” as your first point. How stupid is that? Extraordinary. Then he’s got as points making China’s coal fired plants more efficient. More doctors means lower prices as another. Who thought this up a 3rd grader?

Really perhaps the lamest 10 points I’ve ever read.

The problem is that for 6 years you people (republicans) had control of the house, senate, presidency and then finally Supreme Court and YOU DID NOTHING!!!!! You didnt improve healthcare. You didnt improve national security. You didnt improve our deficit, our economy for more than the wealthy, lower government expenditures or anything. Absolutely nothing but lined the pockets of key supporters and themselves. I think you truly underestimate the anger that Bush and Cheney have generated over their too long terms. And now you want to create a contract that things will get better only if you’re back in power. I dont think so.

Just saw two helicopters flying over Thurmont, MD. I wonder if the Obamas are visiting Camp David?

@MelissaTweets Nope, I'm in Atlanta. Don't think there's a Chick-fil-A at Reagan.
