Rep. Don Young (R.-Alaska) lost his cool on the House floor Wednesday, threatening a fellow Republican over an earmark dispute. (The Hill and Politico have all the details.) It’s the latest example of Young’s absurd defense of pork-barrel projects for his home state, which receives more pork per resident ($985) than any other state. The recipient of Young’s tirade was Rep. Scott Garrett (R.-N.J.). “It’s my money,” Young declared. Such an attitude epitomizes everything that is wrong with pork-loving lawmakers. Don Young should be ashamed of his behavior.
UPDATE — 7:55 p.m.: The news about Young is getting some good play in Alaska, where the views of residents stand in stark contrast to that of their elected representative, according to the Club for Growth.
