The White House and House Republicans have come out against the bloated farm bill, complicating its passage and handing the Democrats yet another headache leading up to the August recess.
Today’s developments are welcome news for taxpayers who don’t want to see their money spent on corporate welfare. That’s one reason the Club for Growth is urging a vote against the bill. But there are plenty of other reasons to oppose it, such as the 600% tax increase on U.S. subsidiary manufacturers that Rep. Tim Walberg (R.-Mich.) discovered.
My colleague James Sherk, meanwhile, takes issue with the inclusion of Davis-Bacon provisions in the bill in a new Heritage video out today.
