Senators Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.), the leading Democrat presidential candidates, are setting an awful precedent on judicial nominations, writes Stuart Taylor of National Journal. Even though it might be in Clinton and Obama’s best interest to block President Bush’s nominees today, it could come back to haunt them should either be elected president. “Republican senators,” Taylor writes, “will take their revenge on well-qualified liberal nominees during the next Democratic administration.” That’s the unfortunate legacy of Nan Aron and Ralph Neas.
