Amnesty Resurfaces on Capitol Hill

My good friend Jessica Echard of Eagle Forum tells me Sen. Dick Durbin (D.-Ill.) has indicated he will offer the DREAM Act (S 774) as an amendment to the Defense authorization bill (HR 1585). The DREAM Act grants amnesty to children who entered the country illegally before they were 16 and who have lived here at least five years. It would also make them eligible for in-state college tuition rates. Heritage’s Kris Kobach calls it a “sleeper amnesty.”

Conservatives are also keeping close watch of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.-Calif.), who struck a deal with Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring up the AgJobs bill (S.1639), which would grant amnesty to some farm workers and create a new guest worker program.
