Why I’m Rooting for the Rockies

Back in January I predicted on RedState that the Philadelphia Phillies would win the World Series. So have I lost faith in the team that could make me a genius? No, not exactly.

As inspirational as the Phillies story has been down the stretch, it doesn’t top the remarkable run by the Colorado Rockies. And even though I’ve been to Citizens Bank Park this year (the only major-league stadium I visited besides RFK), I was just in Denver last year to see Coors Field up close. (We watched the Rockies beat the Brewers on our wedding anniversary.)

But there’s another reason I’m rooting for the Rockies. Last year USA Today carried a great article about how character counts in Colorado’s clubhouse. I respect the players who make up the team and I’m excited to see them get an opportunity to play in the postseason. It’s just too bad they have to face the Phillies in the first round.

You want to see character Rob, check out this video, Phillies vs. Rockies a few months back.

Remember that the Phillies are the away team.

Baseball?

Hockey season starts now my son. You should be rooting for your hard-working Caps to start pulling themselves out of the dumpster this year.

Heck, I even drafted Ovechkin for my fantasy league this year.

@sorendayton Please let USNews be wrong. I guess I'd take Whitman out of that group, although I know next to nothing about her policy views.

@justin_hart Good idea on mymanmitt.com. I liked your e-mail pitch, too. Hadn't heard that story about Romney and the pizza party before.

@rightwingsparkl We need more conservative leaders like Michael Williams.
