GOP Senators Push for Permanent Internet Tax Ban

Here are some clips of Senate Republicans talking about the Internet tax moratorium, which expires Nov. 1.

UPDATE — 8:35 p.m.: To add a little more context to this debate, here’s a link to the Senate Republican Leadership Blog. Earlier today the House passed a four-year extension of the current ban, but Democrats blocked a vote on a permanent ban favored by Republicans.

Does anyone else find it odd that they let Sen. Ted Stevens speak at this press conference today? I know he’s the ranking member on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, but he’s also clueless about technology, once referring to the Internet as “a series of tubes.”

And did Sen. Trent Lott really call it the “Internets” or did I misunderstand him?
