Are Republicans Getting Their Groove Back?

Posted by: Rob Bluey In: Politics

Jennifer Rubin wrote a good piece for Human Events yesterday about why conservatives should have an upbeat attitude these days. An aggressive new communications strategy by the Republican National Committee, combined with incompetence on the part of congressional Democrats, has given the GOP new life. A narrow loss by Republican Jim Ogonowski in Massachusetts’ liberal 5th District and a triumphant win by Bobby Jindal in Louisiana are positive developments. The RNC has compiled a list of some others.

Former Nebraska Democrat Senator Bob Kerrey decided not to seek the open Senate seat being vacated by Senator Chuck Hagel.

The RNC produced “Republican for a Reason” video — that highlights the past three GOP presidencies — continues to score high You Tube ratings.

RNC Game “Vote for the Scariest Democrat” on our Web site is experiencing huge traffic.

Republicans are heartened by Ogonowski’s strong showing in the 5th Congressional District of Massachusetts.

Republican Dino Rossi will seek a rematch with Washington Democrat Governor Christine Gregoire.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s unfavorability rating in Nevada moved past 50 percent this week, while his favorability rating is at 32 percent. Reid decided to bring back his old Chief of Staff, a D.C. insider, for his NV re-election campaign which isn’t until 2010.

The University of Arkansas Library conveniently won’t release Hillary documents until 2009. More and more people are starting to notice.

Leslie Southwick was confirmed to be a federal judge. Hillary Clinton voted the wrong way.

Long time Louisiana Democrat Bob Odom quit his race for re-election, turned office over to a Republican.

Hillary Clinton learns not to make fun of fellow Americans. The RNC made sure her outrageous comments were noticed.

“Republican for a Reason” is big on rhetoric but falls short on accomplishments. I have to admit that the Wall did come down, but there were other major players like Col Kuklinski, Solidarity and the Vatican, who allowed the US to play poker while knowing its opponent’s hand. Tax cuts for the rich and oil from under $30/bl to over $90/bl under “Profit” GWB. Would Jesus consider that fair?

Check out EUGENE ROBINSON’s piece on “REPUBLICANS IN ANDROPAUSE” that is in papers today. They’re trying to get us to feel sorry for ourselves.
