Way to Go, Pitt
My Uncle Ted got to see one heck of a game in Morgantown, W.Va., tonight between the Pitt Panthers and West Virginia Mountaineers. With the national title game hanging in the balance for West Virginia, the Panthers pulled off the ultimate upset, beating the Mountaineers, 13-9. I know it’s been a rough year for Pitt, but I can’t think of a better way to close out the season.

Indeed, not a better way for Pitt to end its season — but a devastating night for WVU alum/fans like me.
I’m still replaying the whole game in my head, knowing that all it would have taken for us to win was one breakaway run by White, Slate, Devine, Renault or any of the other stars on a talented (but so obviously not a championship-caliber) team. I’m still nauseated that the Mountaineers once again were an embarrassment on national TV. Reminds me all too much of the Don Nehlen era.
We finished 10-2 and still get a BCS bid — but I’m not too excited about the prospect of us playing in a top bowl after that poor display of football against Pitt. I fear that we’ll once again be humiliated on national TV in a major bowl, like we were so many times during the Nehlen era when WVU set a new NCAA record for consecutive bowl losses.
Excuse me while I go barf now from having thought to much about this game again.
