1970s Steelers: The Best Ever

Posted by: Rob Bluey In: Sports

During yesterday’s Super Bowl, FoxSports.com and NFL.com asked visitors to pick the greatest dynasty ever. The choices included the Green Bay Packers (1960s), Pittsburgh Steelers (1970s), San Francisco 49ers (1980s), Dallas Cowboys (1990s) and New England Patriots (2000s).

I quickly logged on to vote for my beloved Steelers, but I really didn’t think they’d stand much chance against America’s Team. Turns out they did. Following yesterday’s stunning New York Giants victory, the Steelers were picked by voters as the greatest NFL dynasty of all time.

I’ll give it to the Steelers if they ever topped five NFL championships and/or Super Bowls in a six-year span like the Green Bay Packers did from 1961-67.

@jayrosen_nyu Wow, Howard really showed his liberal stripes in that interview. Must be trying to live up the elite media stereotype. #rnc08
