Who Hasn’t Heard of Curious George?

Curious George, originally uploaded by Rob Bluey.
Rush Limbaugh apologized to Sen. Barack Obama today for laughing at a caller’s quip that Obama looked like Curious George. As if the incident itself weren’t bad enough, Limbaugh left me scratching my head when he claimed he hadn’t ever hear of America’s most famous monkey.
Limbaugh said he watched Yogi Bear and the Jetsons as a kid — a good excuse, except for the fact that Curious George didn’t make his TV debut until 1980. The character was created in 1941 in a series of popular children’s books.
I realize I grew up during a different generation, but Curious George is an American icon.

Rush was up to other monkey business last year with this musical number titled *Barack the Magic Negro*…

Before *Barack the Magic Negro* we had Rush calling Obama *Halfrican American*.

All in a days work for Rush. The Democrats got rid of these types of people back when Strom Thurman and that bunch jumped to the GOP-Republican Party. I guess in reality, I shouldn’t say the Democrats got rid of these racists, more the case is that the racists left the Democratic Party to find greener pastures.

I am right at Limbaugh’s age, and I never heard of Curious George until my oldest son was about 8-10 yrs old, he was born in ‘77.
I was a prolific reader from a very young age. I didn’t read any Dr. Seuss books as a child, either.
We read Golden Books, mostly, and I don’t think they did either of those characters.
Not saying one way or another anything about Rush - but I can say that I was close to 30 before I heard anything to speak of even Dr. Seuss.
I have two children - but Rush doesn’t have any - therefore also no grandchildren. I know he has nieces adn nephews he loves a lot - but I doubt if book-reading is a common part of their relationships.

More spin on Rush’s comments from Dion. Quoting a very biased pair of sites. Its funny how we can have race shoved down our faces every day by those on the left yet dare make a joke about it and watch out. If you are on the right and make social commentary on race in America you will be beaten down. That is a reality that Rush gets but does not care. The division amongst races in this country is pushed by the left for the gain of power. They claim to champion MLK and his beliefs but they in general do not want a colorblind society. While Rush’s comments may not be the smartest nor the most sensitive the reaction by those that divide and conquer is almost hilarious. Rant on.

“More spin on Rush’s comments from Dion. Quoting a very biased pair of sites” Said Jim
Blaming the messenger and not the message Jim? I take heart that GOP-Republican websites don’t repeat Rush’s vile words. Jim, please keep in mind that people who’s ancestors were American slaves and today are herded into ghettos with very little help out of their *born into* situation, don’t need to hear racial jokes from *the white master* on the radio. Here again it seems a perfect time to use *empathy*. Some though, would rather laugh at the less fortunate ones.
