Dean Barnett, R.I.P.

Conservative blogger and radio show host Dean Barnett passed away today after a battle with cystic fibrosis. Like the countless other bloggers who have expressed their condolences, I’d like to add mine. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Dean and I had our differences on politics and sports, engaging at times in heated debates with one another. He was a big-time Boston fan. I despise Boston teams. We argued about the state of the blogosphere — sometimes a little too passionately.

Despite our disagreements, we became friends. I last saw him over the summer when he was hosting a radio show from Heritage’s studios. I introduced him to my colleague, Brian Darling, another Boston fan, and chatted about politics before he went on the air.

Hearing that he died today at the age of 41 came as a shock to many people, including me. He will certainly be missed dearly. May he rest in peace.
